IRS Providing Tax Filing Relief for Hurricane Irene Victims

The IRS is providing some tax filing relief for taxpayers affected by Hurricane Irene by extending certain tax filing and payment deadlines to October 31, 2011.

This link will take you to a memo issued by the IRS that provides information about who is considered an affected taxpayer, what counties are covered disaster areas, and the relief that may be available to affected taxpayers: http://www.irs.gov/irs/article/0,,id=245000,00.html

The New York State Department of Taxation and Finance is offering similar tax filing relief for affected taxpayers. Tax agencies in other states affected by Hurricane Irene may also be offering relief.  Please click here for more information.

If you reside in or if your principal business location is located in a covered disaster area and you think you won't be able to meet your filing or payment deadline of September 15 (many business have returns due; individuals may have estimated tax payments due) or October 15 (extended personal returns), please call our office and talk to one of our tax advisors to see if you are eligible for this tax relief.
